For years we’ve been admirers of the simple but elegant economics of Dorothy Gambrell’s Donation Derby comic. You pay something, you get a comic, & the rest of us get to read it. We’d love to do something similar, except 1) she already thought up this idea; 2) we fear we wouldn’t get any “donations”; 3) we only spend money on extremely boring things like rent and food and cheap beer, and usually do sans bon mots. We’re not sure a comic of us trudging around alone finicking over the dollar difference between a case of Hamm’s & PBR would really make for Eisner material. But, we just spent a lot of time typing out this paragraph so we’re not going to delete it, consider the idea pondered.
