Perhaps you already knew that you can buy my books on the internet (from Secret Acres, Microcosm, or Amazon.com, for example).

However, if you are the type of savvy bon vivant who demands Style, Uniqueness, Panache, Value, and The Human Touch from your consumer experience, your scratch may now be itched right here on this website — because Gabby’s Playhouse is now offering sketched-in copies of Monsters straight from the willing hands of the author himself.

All orders come with the following abundance of goodness:

  1. A fresh copy of Monsters, containing
  2. a personalized drawing, signature & inscription on the first page, drawn by me, the big fancy author;
  3. Two (2) herpes-sore temporary tattoos;
  4. A curious object or two;
  5. One (1) feeling of glib self-satisfaction, knowing your money skipped the publishing bureaucracy and went directly to the creator of the book himself — who, as we all know, is traditionally the least-compensated, most-likely-to-starve-to-death link on capitalism’s wending chain of commerce.
  6. A nice letter from me thanking you for your purchase.

Previously this sort of special treatment would only be available if you caught me at the Secret Acres table at a comic convention. But now, through the miracle of the internet, you can have your book personalized at just any old time, from basically any part of the world, for actually not that much more money.

Every copy will come with a personalized doodles drawn by me, along with an inscription with your name (or the name of someone else you’re giving it to). You can either request a drawing, or just have me draw whatever I want. All doodles are guaranteed to be amusing.

In every package I will also add a random trinket or two of interest that I have collected in my travels. It might be a sticker, it might be a weird written-on pebble, it might be a crazy note some wingnut left inside a book I bought. It’ll be just like in the olden days, when we used to write real mail to each other!

All this for just $20 a copy (only $2 above the retail price!), plus shipping.

Shipping: I mail all domestic orders media mail. The shipping cost is a percentage of your order — bigger orders cost less in shipping. It’s like this:

So if you bought $40 worth of books, your shipping costs would be $6 — for a total of $46.

I mail all international orders standard air. I set the shipping as a standard $13.50, since I’m assuming you’re not buying more than six copies (which is where the shipping cost goes up). This amount should be automatically added on to the international paypal button, but if there are any problems I’ll let you know.
